The Marion County High School Lady Knights basketball team opened up regular season play with three games last week, and they lived up to their preseason No. 1 state ranking by defeating their opponents by an average of 44 points. “Defense, rebounding and playing team basketball are the reasons we have won all three games this week with a running clock,” Head Coach Trent Milby said. “If we continue to do those three things, we will be hard to beat.”
The Marion County swim team hosted their first meet of the season at the Lebanon Aquatic Center Nov. 27. The Aquaknights took on Nelson County in their season opening meet. The swim team enjoyed quite a bit of success in the meet, and according to Head Coach Holly Buckman, Marion County came out on top in all but two events in the meet.
Yeah, I know that I wrote a column last week and all of you were hoping to hear from Jessica this week. Well, you will have to wait one more week. As soon as I mentioned to Jessica that I had an idea for a column, she jumped on that and here I sit typing away.
Former Marion County High School Lady Knight Bre Elder has been getting some playing time as a freshman at the University of Dayton in Ohio. On the season the Lady Flyers are 6-0 and are currently ranked in the top 25 for only the third time in program history. Currently, the Lady Flyers are 24th in the Associated Press poll and 25th in the coaches' poll. Earlier in the season, Dayton took down then 13th ranked Vanderbilt 71-66 in Dayton and then 25th ranked DePaul 92-80 in the Maggie Dixon Classic.
