  • McKay inducted into 5th Region...

    Last season, longtime assistant coach Josh McKay celebrated his retirement at the Roby Dome. This season, the coach has been inducted into the Fifth Region Athletic Directors Hall of Fame.

    McKay was inducted in a ceremony before the tip of the region championship game on Tuesday of last week at Nelson County High School.

    The longtime Marion County High School boy's basketball assistant coach was part of the 1993 team that won the program's only state tournament. He served the program for 27 years as a head coach and an assistant.

  • Lady Knights capture the crown

    A 15-year drought ended Saturday night. Fifteen years ago the 1995 Lady Knights took home the Fifth Region title. Saturday night, the 2010 Lady Knights captured the title in the same gym in Hart County.

    Marion County (33-1) avenged last season's region final loss to knock off Elizabethtown (26-6) in a game that was controlled by the Lady Knights throughout. Marion County outlasted the Lady Panthers 54-40.

  • Archery team headed to state for...

    For the eighth year in a row, Lebanon Middle School will be sending its archery team to the state meet.

    Lebanon Middle placed second overall in middle school team competition over the last two weeks at the NASP Region 5 tournament held at LMS. Lebanon Middle hosted the region tournament for the second consecutive year.

    James T. Alton claimed first overall while Bardstown Middle School took third overall. West Hardin Middle, St. Charles Middle and North Washington Middle School rounded out the top six.

  • Epps claims tourney MVP

    After the dust settled on the Fifth Region tournament, several Lady Knights were named to the Fifth Region tournament team. Freshman Makayla Epps took home Most Outstanding Player honors, averaging 22 points per game during a three game stretch.

    Sophomore Bre Elder, freshman Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, junior Brooke Roberts and freshman Makayla Epps were named to the Fifth Region All-Tournament team.

    Epps, Roberts and Goodin-Rogers took home player of the game awards during the first round, semifinals and finals.

     

  • Lady Knights face Mercy in first...

    In a battle between two top 10 teams, Marion County looks to escape the first round unscathed in their regular season rematch with Mercy Academy (23-8).

    In their last battle, the Lady Knights used a strong second half to thump Mercy 69-53 at the Roby Dome. Freshman Kyvin Goodin-Rogers had a breakout game with 25 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks.

  • Players named to all-district...

    After the dust settled on the 20th District tournament, several Lady Knights were named to the regular season and postseason all-district teams.

    Marion County High School junior Ann Morgan Reynolds was named to the 20th District All-Academic team along with others from Adair, Taylor and Campbellsville.

    Sophomore Bre Elder, freshman Kyvin Goodin-Rogers and freshman Makayla Epps were named to the 20th District All-Season team as well as the All-Tournament team.

    Also named to the All-Tournament team were freshman Patrice Tonge and senior Andrea King.
