  • JV and freshman Knights knock...

    The Marion County High School boy's junior varsity basketball team knocked off Nelson County while the freshman squad fell to the Cardinals on Friday night at the Roby Dome. Here are the results from those games.

    Marion County 55, Nelson County 49 (Double overtime)

    A three pointer by Josh Brockman as time expired in regulation sent the game into the first of two overtimes for the Knights. Brockman led the Knights with 16 while also forcing a crucial turnover in the second overtime. Carlos Litsey scored 15 points for the Knights.

  • Knights take on Nelson, E'...

    The Knights look for their first win of the calendar year this weekend.

    Friday night the Nelson County Cardinals (9-7) come to town for a junior varsity/varsity double-header against the Marion County High School boy's basketball team. Junior varsity tips off at 6 p.m., the varsity tips off at 7:30 p.m. at the Roby Dome.

  • Role model

    At three hours or more a day, gymnastics practice is quite the investment.

    So far that investment has paid a handsome sum for Marion County High School junior Taura Miles.

    Miles is a gymnast who trains at Fit Kids in Bardstown with owner Vicki Smith and her staff. Miles has been training since she was seven. She's now 16.

    Smith is no stranger to gymnastics, having owned Fit Kids for 28 years and having extensive experience as a coach. So when Smith speaks about gymnastics, you tend to listen.

  • January woes continue

    Someone needs to check the temperature inside the Roby Dome because it seems much colder than usual.

    The Marion County High School boy's basketball team has gone cold from the field, extending their losing streak to seven games. They are winless in the month of January. In the last two January's, they are 0-13. The Knights have two more chances to claim a win in January (Nelson County, Elizabethtown).

  • Freshman fall in district...

    The Marion County High School boy's basketball freshman team came up short in the 20th District championship game against Adair County. Here are the results from the last two weeks.

    Adair County 40, Marion County 24

    The freshman Knights were dismantled in the 20th District championship game against Adair County on Saturday. Matt Fudge, the younger brother of former Adair County star Nick Fudge, led all scorers with 16 points. Vincent Collins led the Knights with 12 as Marion County claimed second place in the district.

  • Aquaknights defeat home teams

    The Marion County High Swim Team hosted Bethlehem and Nelson County High School swim teams at the Lebanon Aquatic Center Jan. 19. All three teams hold practice at the Lebanon Aquatic Center. Marion County boys and girls defeated their opponents: girls scores, Marion 40, Bethlehem 37, Nelson 12, boys scores, Marion 47, Bethlehem 15, Nelson 10.

    "I was very proud of our swimmers," said Head Coach Colleen Ryan. "A lot of the kids dropped significant time which enabled us to beat Nelson County and Bethlehem. They pushed themselves and each other."

  • Aquaknights dominate

    The Marion County Aquaknights swim team hosted a meet with Campbellsville and Taylor County High Schools at the Lebanon Aquatic Center Thursday.

    Marion County scored 136 points and Taylor County received 16 points while Campbellsville failed to score. First place finishers receive six points in relay events and four points in individual events. Second place finishers receive three points and third place receive one point in both types of events. Marion County received 1st place in 20 out of 21 events.

    This week included two "business as usual" wins in district play for the Marion County High School girl's basketball team and a signature victory over Christian Academy of Louisville. Here's a look at last week's results.

    In a highly touted match up of two of the state's best teams, Marion County emerged the winner and just solidified their number one ranking by winning at the Raatz Fence Classic at Mercy Academy in Louisville.

  • Lady Knights prepare for Hart...

    Monday night the Lady Knights head into a region battle at the site of this year's Fifth Region tournament, a place they plan to get really acquainted with come March.

    Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. when the Lady Knights visit Hart County (13-7) on Monday.

    "They'll run up and down," Lady Knights Head Coach Trent Milby said. "They're not as fast as we are but they can shoot the basketball. That's where the region tournament is at and we want to get a good feeling for the gym. We hope to play well, it's always a tough place to play."

  • We got spirit

    Marion County High School's cheerleading squad competed at the Fifth Region KAPOS region competition Sunday at Central Hardin High School.

    The squad finished third in their division.
