  • Knight basketball history

    The Marion County Knights’ basketball program has had its ups and downs over the 41 seasons it has been in existence. To start with, there have been 11 different head coaches, with the longest tenured head coach being Tim Davis who coached the Knights for 12 seasons in the 1980s and 1990s.
    A quick look through history will show some of the reasons for the swings in the program’s history. 

  • Strong second half leads to...

    The Marion County Knights played the Green County Dragons on Tuesday of last week at the Roby Dome. After the first quarter, the Knights trailed by two points due in large part to streaky shooting by Green County early on. The Knights and Dragons were evenly matched throughout the frame, and baskets were traded evenly until the score was 12-10 with Green County ahead.

  • Girls slip past Southwestern

    In the first game of the Republic Bank Classic last Saturday morning at Lexington Catholic, the Marion County Lady Knights girls’ varsity basketball team defeated Southwestern by four points in a 58-54 victory. Junior guard Bre Elder poured in 29 points to help the Lady Knights slip past the previously undefeated Warriors.
    “Bre stepped up and played a great game,” Lady Knight Head coach Trent Milby said.

  • Former coach wins 500th game

    Former Marion County Knights Head Coach Tim Davis, who currently is the head coach at Campbellsville, picked up his 500th win as a head coach on Saturday, Dec. 11, against Grayson County in the Cameron Irvin Classic at North Hardin High School by a score of 58-56. Davis becomes one of only 41 coaches in Kentucky that have achieved this milestone.

  • Lady Knights pound Green County...

    On Tuesday of last week, the Marion County Lady Knights faced the Green County Lady Dragons at the Roby Dome. The Lady Knights raced ahead from the beginning and were able to keep the Lady Dragons on the ropes. A quick spurt early in the first quarter from the locals gave a glimpse of how the game would play out.  Marion County’s up-tempo offense and smothering defense proved to be too much for Green County in a 77-42 rout.

  • Casey County game cancelled...

    The Marion County Knights were scheduled to travel to Liberty Thursday of last week to play the Casey County Rebels in a Junior Varsity/Varsity game. 

    However, due to bad road conditions, this game was cancelled. The game has not been rescheduled at this time.

  • Knights defeat Campbellsville 57...

    Friday, the Marion County varsity boys’ basketball team battled Campbellsville at the Roby Dome. From the opening tip, the two teams fought for the lead until midway through the fourth quarter when the Knights began to pull away. Marion County made 21 of 39 shots from inside the arc in the game for an impressive shooting percentage of 54 percent. The locals stretched the lead to 12 points late in the fourth period and went on to win the game by 10 points, with a final score of 57-47.

  • Lady Knights face tough...

    The Marion County girls’ basketball teams will travel to Pickerington, Ohio to play in the Key Bank Holiday Cage Classic beginning Dec. 28 and wrapping up on Dec. 30. The Lady Knights will face some tough competition throughout this classic. There are eight teams in the field, and nearly all of them are ranked very high in their respective states/divisions.
