    Three Marion County football players had a chance to shine in front of scouts on Saturday at Southern High School in the East-West All-Star high school football game.

  • Lady Knights clobber Clay County

    The Marion County High School Lady Knights (1-0) took over Farnham Dudgeon Arena on Saturday morning, making themselves at home in their 54-35 victory over a highly touted Clay County (0-1) squad.

    Clay County returned all five starters from last year's 13th Region championship team but was turned back by the Lady Knights in the Battle of the Bluegrass. Clay County averaged 55 points a game last season but was only able to squeak 35 against the quicker Lady Knights.

  • Lady Knights go to work

    The Marion County High School girls basketball team locks horns with last year's 12th Region champion Casey County on Saturday during the Bankers Hardwood Classic in Russell County.

    Before that though, they tangled with Adair County on Tuesday to open district play. Results were unknown at press time. Friday they travel to Washington County High School (0-1) to face their border rival in a hostile road environment.

  • Bitter Sweet

    Marion County High School repeated history Friday night, losing in the state semifinal game in Paducah against an offensive powerhouse. It was the first time the Knights had been back to the state semi-finals since 1987, and that squad also lost to a team from Paducah.

    The Marion County High School swim team competed in the Lakers Fall Preview Meet at the Russell Springs Natatorium on Saturday, Nov. 21.

    "It was a good introduction to competitive swimming for the young team members," said Coach Colleen Ryan. "And, for the more experienced swimmers, it showed that it was time to get serious and identified what areas need work."

  • Lady Knights have high...

    This season the Marion County Lady Knights come out with targets on their backs. That tends to happen when state and national publications rank you No. 1 in the state and region. Add a tough schedule from top to bottom and Head Coach Trent Milby has the makings for a championship season.

    "You're looking at 16 games against top 20 teams. That means that you just have to be ready to play each and every game," Milby said. "We're already going to take everybody's best shot as it is."

  • Knights roll in first scrimmage

    Marion County High School hosted Bullitt East in their first scrimmage of the boys basketball season Wednesday of last week without a full deck of cards.

    With a substantial amount of players still in football gear, the Knights were forced to play a five-guard lineup.

    Kendrick Knopp shot the lights out, hitting six of nine three pointers on his way to 25 points in his varsity debut. Austin Spalding, Josh Reed and Deshawn Douglas all scored 14 for the Knights.
