     Coming up is Thanksgiving, the time of year when the meaning of family manifests itself as we approach another year.

    Over the period of a year things will change, as they always do. So be thankful for what you have today and thankful for those whose courage gives us reason to give thanks.

    Some time during the day, just stop and consider what you have to be thankful for.

  • Industrial league tourament is...

    The Lebanon Elementary Family Resource Center will be hosting its annual Industrial Basketball Tournament at Lebanon Middle School from Dec. 26 through 28.

    Interested teams must consist of workers who are employed at least 20 hours per week at their companies. 

  • Volleyballer seeking donations...

     Shelby Goode has been invited to participate in the Down Under Sports Tournaments hosted on the Gold Coast of Australia. She will be participating in this international event on the East Conference Volleyball Team during the summer of 2015. She is looking for sponsors to make donations towards the cost of competing down under. 

  • Golf awards announced

     The Marion County High School Knights held their annual awards banquet on Nov. 11. 

    Several Knights received multiple awards. Taking the academic all-state awards were Daniel Maupin and Dylan Cambron. Trevor Burchell and Cody Bramel received academic honorable mention awards.

    Inside Lebanon Health and Fitness, dance music drones, people work up a sweat, and the floor shakes as weights crash down on the ground with a clank.

    Andrew Lee, whose arm muscles are about as big as your head, moves between stations swiftly and lifts 50-pound dumbbells with ease.

    Lee is a police officer and a competitive bodybuilder.

  • Coach happy with Lady Knights in...

    The Marion County Lady Knights hosted a scrimmage against the Grayson County Lady Cougars over the weekend. 

    Although they did not keep score, the Lady Knights dominated the court in several quarters of the game and were left fighting in others. 

    Lady Knights Coach Anthony Epps said he was happy with the team’s performance. 

  • Knights look to build on winning...

    The Marion County Knights’ football season is at a close, and basketballseason is right around the corner. Unlike what many people expected, the Knights finished with a winning 6-5 record on the gridiron for the first time since 2009.

    “I’m happy with it,” Knights Interim Coach Matthew “Moo Moo” Mattingly said. “Any time you can get a winning record, especially the first one since ‘09, you gotta be happy with it.”

    Recently, I accepted a job with our neighboring county’s newspaper - The Springfield Sun. 

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights keep...

    Marion County Lady Knights senior Shelby Goode was named to the First Team All-State team last week. The team is a group of players recognized by various volleyball coaches for their abilities. When she found out about it, she didn’t know what it was.

    “After I found out what it was, I was real excited about it,” Goode said with a smile.
