  • ‘Save tha tatas’

Big or small, save them all!

In case you didn’t know, October is breast cancer awareness month. Whether it’s breast cancer awareness, or autism awareness, Marion County High School is no stranger to hosting events for a good cause.

In fact, it seems like they do it every season.

  • District defeat: Soccer Knights...

The Marion County Knights ended their season after losing their first game of the 18th District tournament on Oct. 14.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead, the Knights were defeated by the LaRue County Hawks for the second time this season, 3-2.

  • Soccer: Taylor County defeats...

The Marion County Lady Knights’ season came to a close when they were shutout by the Taylor County Lady Cardinals 8-0 in their first round of the 18th district tournament on Oct. 16.

With their final game aside, Lady Knights Coach Derek Cissell said he wasn’t disappointed with the team’s performance.

  • Volleyball: Raising awareness

In typical Marion County High School fashion, the Marion County Lady Knights hosted a breast cancer awareness event on Oct. 16.

The event featured the Lady Knights (18-16) battling it out with the Pulaski County Lady Maroons (22-12).

Unfortunately, Marion County lost in four heated sets, 30-28, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24.

  • Whispers, snacks and a deer

I had a most interesting weekend. Since I didn’t have an opportunity to take a grandson hunting during the youth weekend, I decided the early muzzleloader season would be a good “make up” period.

  • Worth noting

Well, it was a slow week for sports here at The Enterprise. Unfortunately, with the soccer teams finishing up their season on the road, I wasn’t left with as much to cover this week. Thankfully, George Spragens went with the boys team and was generous enough to send photos. He also took pictures of an autumn baseball game at St. Catherine’s College, pitting the Marion County Knights pitted against Bethlehem and Bardstown in a double-header.

  • Football: Knights win another ‘...

    History always repeats itself.
Picking up from where they left off last week – in soaking conditions, the Marion County Knights took their third one-point win of the season over the Mercer County Titans on Oct. 10. The Knights (5-2)  won the heated affair 20-19.

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights pick up...

The Marion County Lady Knights took a victory over the Bardstown Lady Tigers on Oct. 9.
Adding icing to the top of their cake, the 3-1 victory was a sweet ending for the 12 seniors of the team because it also happened to be senior night.
“We played really hard in the beginning,” Lady Knights senior Mckenzie Reynolds said.
The Lady Knights (18-14) lost a chance to win the game in the third set and finished 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22.
Reynolds said they relaxed in third set which is what gave Bardstown (13-16) the win.
