    After failing to get to a bowl the last two years despite having great chances to do so each year, coach Mark Stoops knows many fans are disgruntled and need to see improvements on the field to believe again in the program like they did when he first got to UK.
    He said the maturity of quarterback Drew Barker, who started games at the end of last season, is one reason to be optimistic.

    Coy Glasscock killed this 23-pound turkey with a bow recently. The turkey had a 10-inch beard and 3/4 spurs.

  • Let's play ball!

    The Marion County Middle School A Baseball Team defeated Taylor County Monday evening 6-5. The B team was defeated 10-4. Marion County also took losses over the weekend against Bardstown Middle School A team 2-4 and B team 3-11.

    The Marion County Middle School Softball team defeated Spencer County on April 18 (A game 9-0, B game 7-0). They are currently 10-1-1.

  • Southern Kentucky Starz

    Pictured is the Southern Kentucky Starz team. They won the Battle of the Borders Tournament in Louisville on Sunday, March 20. This is their third consecutive tournament win. Emily Helms and Jayla Cowherd of Marion County are both on the team and are also both Marion County Lady Knights.

    The Marion County Knights began this week on the road against the Adair County Indians on April 26 in a 20th District game. The Knights took an 8-3 comeback win with extra innings. The Knights were able to tie up at three apiece in the eighth inning, and Luke Thomas would push the Knights ahead when he got a bases-loaded ground ball past Adair County's third baseman, which would push Ty Murphy across for the go ahead run.

    A change of scenery can be tough on anybody, but for Mook Reunsang and Chaio Chen, their change of scenery involves going halfway around the globe to a new place where they have no family or friends.
    Reunsang and Chen are two foreign exchange students from Thailand and China, and they are members of the Marion County Lady Knights softball team.

    Sports are full of moments of pure joy and excitement. The buzzer-beating shots, the game-winning touchdowns on the last play, and walk-off home runs all provide us with the awesome sense of awe, excitement and joy. We sense our teams are going to lose and the hope of winning is slim to none. After all, it comes down to one play, one out, one throw, one last chance. Then, before our eyes, something amazing happens. A huge swing of emotions ensues as you go from hopelessness to disbelief to pure joy.
