This may be a really strange column topic, which is perfectly okay, because it’s about food, and who doesn’t love food?

  • BASEBALL: Knights lose, play for...

After another week of wet, rainy weather, the skies cleared up Friday and Saturday for the Saving Second Base invitational at Marion County High School.
The weekend was a tough one on the field for the host team, the Marion County Knights, who fell to 3-13 on the season after suffering three losses in two days.
Regardless of the outcome on the field, the Knights and the other teams in the invitational were playing for a bigger cause, as evidenced by pink bases and bats as well as pink touches on the team’s uniforms.

Lauren Hill was an inspirational young woman who recently passed away April 11. Hill had a rare brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). She had a brain tumor the size of a lemon growing inside her for more than a year, but she never let that stop her.
This will not be one of those sad stories you read. However it will hopefully touch a few hearts out there, maybe even more than a few.

A working-violinist-band member-sprinter is what you could call her. Junior Meredith Bartley at Marion County High School runs cross country in the fall, track in the spring, and somehow has time to work at Cedars of Lebanon, go to violin practice, and play the vibes in band.
Bartley has been a runner since the seventh grade when she chose to join the track team.

This past week, the weather has been really tough for outdoors sport. Luckily the Marion County Lady Knights softball team (14-4) got a chance to play Friday at Bethlehem.
Marion County grabbed a win 8-5.
The Lady Knights held a lead early, but they added six runs in the sixth inning to secure the win.
