After heated debate, city council strikes convention center funding from budget

Tempers flared during the first work session for the City of Lebanon’s 2019-20 budget, as councilmembers and Lebanon Mayor Gary Crenshaw argued over excluding $150,000 convention center funding out of the budget.

The council’s work session on June 1 was initially amicable until discussion turned toward the convention center. Councilmembers Kate Palagi, Larry “Snooks” Mattingly and Jerry Abell requested leaving the convention center funding out of the budget. Instead, they want the decision to be made on a “case by case basis.”
