Bitter cold continues Thursday

The National Weather Service is forecasting bitter cold conditions will continue Thursday, Feb. 19, in central Kentucky.

A wind chill warning remains in effect until noon Thursday. According to the weather service, the bitterly cold conditions will make it dangerous to be outside for prolonged periods of time. Wind chill readings will bottom out between -30 and -20 degrees.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect from noon until 7 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20.

Anyone who has to be outside should dress in layers to trap body heat and to be better insulated from cold air, according to the weather service. Anyone who will be outside should cover as much exposed skin as possible.

The weather service also warns that exposed pipes will be at risk of freezing and bursting.
