Women learn valuable lessons after a canoe float goes terribly wrong

By Stevie Lowery

What started out as an all-girls canoe float on the Nolin River to celebrate a friend’s birthday turned into a search and rescue mission for a local woman and several of her friends last month.
Beverly Mattingly of Lebanon and her friends Lena Perry, Holly Hendrickson and Christy Givens, all of Louisville, got together on July 27 to float the river and celebrate Givens birthday. Givens had never floated before and Mattingly assured her that she was in for a real treat.
