A cold front will sweep east across Kentucky starting Friday morning with a mix of precipitation progressing from rain to freezing rain to sleet and then possibly snow and causing hazardous road conditions, the National Weather Service warned.
A winter storm watch is in effect for Central Kentucky from Friday morning through Saturday morning.
Central Kentucky could see up to 4 inches of accumulation, the NWS stated. The winter storm watch extends east to Richmond.
The cold front will move into Eastern Kentucky later Friday with rain changing to snow Saturday.
“Snow accumulations of generally 1 to 3 inches are currently expected,” forecasters in the NWS Jackson office said. “Highest accumulations will be north of Interstate 64.”
Temperatures will dive below freezing for the weekend.
