Upon leaving government service, I was presented with a “Distinguished career award” by Brigadier General Thomas Arwood, US Army.

I was born in a rural area on the outskirts of Detroit Michigan. I have had the honor to be married to my wife Geraldine for over 58 years and the proud parent of five wonderful children. Two of my children live here in Marion County. Susan Riggle (Susie) and Patricia Dorton Boyd (Trisha).

Organizations/clubs involved in:
I currently serve as Co-Chairman on the Marion/Washington County Foster Children Review board to insure that all our foster children receive the proper care they deserve.

Why are you running for county clerk:
I'm running for County Clerk because I think I can provide new energy and idea's to the office. The County Clerk is the focal point for most communication & information. If an issue does not seem to apply to any particular office, it ends up at the County Clerks desk for answers. I have always tried to keep abreast of situations within the County and Frankfort towards how they might effect us here in Marion County.

What are your qualifications to serve as county clerk? What knowledge and experiences have prepared you for this position?
I have manage large and small government organizations and I believe I have the experience and skills necessary to manage the Office of County Clerk. As your County Clerk I will always make sure we never loose sight of our goals and that we provide each and every resident with the best possible customer service.

If elected, what will be your priorities in office:
Make sure we are doing things the most efficient and cost effective way. Look for new innovative technology in our record keeping. I would like to put more county documents on line. This would avoid the gradual destruction of the document from physical handling and provide easier access for many.
