County opening warming centers, declares local state of emergency

-A A +A

Three warming centers will be opening at noon in Marion County, according to Emergency Management Director Hayden Johnson.

These centers are Centre Square in Lebanon, city hall in Bradfordsville and city hall in Loretto.

Residents in and around Bradfordsville can call Mayor David Edelen at 270-337-2785 for more information. Residents in and around Loretto can call Mayor Tom Brahm at 270-402-7191.

Johnson stressed that these centers are only a place for people to get warm. They are not shelters. Anyone planning to go to these centers should be aware that no food or other services will be provided.

Marion County Judge/Executive David Daugherty said the county decided to open the warming centers after receiving reports from Spring View Hospital of people who did not have heat at home.

County officials also declared a local state of emergency for Feb. 16-18.
