A Loretto man who was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Aug. 20 died late Sunday or early Monday morning, according to Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Clements.
Thomas Hamilton, 59, was flown to University Hospital in Louisville after the accident, which occurred at 8:17 p.m. Aug. 20 on Hwy. 52, west of the Loretto city limits near 75 Mills Lane.
Rita Medley, 53, of Loretto was listed in stable condition as of Monday morning at U of L.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton was driving east on Hwy. 52 in a Chevrolet pickup when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Medley.
Hamilton was flown from the scene to U of L by Air Methods, according to Lebanon Police Dispatch. Medley was initially taken to Spring View Hospital by Marion County EMS, but was later transferred to U of L.
Sheriff Clements noted that Hamilton had recently had stents put in his heart, and a medical issue may have contributed to the accident. He added that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the accident.
Marion County Rescue and the Loretto Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Deputy Sheriff Courtney Deering is investigating.
