MCHS SBDM Council and community members question if dress code enforcement is sexist

It has been two years since the Marion County High School Site-Based Decision Making Council reviewed the current dress code policy for students, and a recent open discussion at the high school has raised questions of whether or not the code is sexist.

“The whole purpose of the meeting is to have a listening session and open discussion in regards to the dress code,” said Principal Thad Elmore during a meeting on Sept. 6. “The current policy was enforced in 2016, and every two to three years we like to renew the policy and revise it when needed.”
