MCHS seeking student applications for HOBY Leadership Seminar

-A A +A

Marion County High School is looking for current sophomores interested in applying for the HOBY Leadership Seminar. MCHS will send one applicant to the event for free, which develops leadership talents in young people during a four-day residential event in June.
Last year, MCHS student Libby Palagi attended the HOBY Leadership conference at Transylvania University.
“I loved my experience, and once I got there I really enjoyed myself --it was an experience of a lifetime,” Palagi said. “I felt that it really helped me because I’m the captain of my soccer team and I felt like it really gave me more a voice in that aspect.”
In addition to the activities and guest speakers, Palagi also noted the value of staying on a college campus.
“You stay in a dorm and get a college-like experience,” she said. “One of my favorite things was getting to know new people.”
Current sophomores interested in HOBY should contact MCHS guidance counselor Rachael Trent for instructions on how to apply. Trent’s email address is: rachael.trent@marion.kyschools.us.
The deadline for contacting Trent is Oct. 31.
