MLK march is Sunday

On Sunday, Marion County will remember civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with a pair of events.

The United Concerned Citizens Organization will hold its annual Martin Luther King March at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20. The march will begin in front of the Lebanon Post Office. From the post office, marchers will walk to ML King Avenue and back to the post office.

At the conclusion of the march, the Marion County NAACP will host an event at the Lebanon United Methodist Church, 236 N. Spalding Avenue in Lebanon.

Ft. Christopher Rhodes, the associate pastor at St. Augustine Catholic Church, will be the guest speaker. Rhodes has also served as an Army chaplain.

In addition to Rhodes’ talk, there will be music and readings from King’s speeches. Light refreshments will be served.
