Mobile beehive autoclave system assists local beekeepers

On Saturday, Sep 16, Jacob Vincent, Kentucky State University’s autoclave expert, set up their mobile beehive autoclave system at the Springfield Extension Office to assist local beekeepers maintain clean, sanitary equipment in their apiaries. Beekeepers from Marion and adjacent counties were able to take advantage of this free service. In conjunction with the equipment cleaning, the Washington County Beekeepers and guests completed training in a new method of controlling varroa mites, a significant parasitic health threat to bee colonies.
