N. Spalding house damaged by fire

A house belonging to a local teacher and a former Enterprise and Springfield Sun reporter was damaged by a fire Friday.

At 11:25 a.m., the Lebanon Fire Department was dispatched to 475 N. Spalding Avenue. When firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke was visible coming from the roof of the house.

When the firefighters were able to open the front door, black smoke came out.

Neither Jesse or Coury Osbourne or their children were at home at the time of the fire. Jesse Osbourne is a former sports correspondent and photographer for the Enterprise and a former editor of The Springfield Sun. Coury Osbourne is an English teacher at Marion County High School.

Firefighters were still on the scene as of 12:30 p.m. Marion County EMS was also dispatched to the scene.

The fire is believed to have started in the basement.
