Pedestrian hit last week near Loretto

 A St. Mary man was injured when he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, near Loretto.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:40 a.m., the sheriff’s office received the report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle on North Loretto Road approximately one mile south of Loretto. 

Responding deputies found that Amber A. Thomas, 28, of Campbellsville was driving a 2010 Mercury northbound when she struck Robert Jeffrey Mattingly, 45, of St. Mary as he was walking along North Loretto Road. 

Mattingly was transported to Spring View Hospital by Marion County EMS and released a few hours later after treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 

No injuries were reported by Thomas or any of the five passengers (all children) in her vehicle. The Marion County Rescue Squad and Loretto Fire Department assisted at the scene. Deputy Sheriff Tristan Hayden investigated.
