Despite a loss in the district championship, the Marion County Knights advanced to the 5th Region Tournament, where they played the North Hardin Trojans on Oct. 1 at Nelson County High School.
The Knights (10-11 overall, 6-7 regional) lost 5-0, ending their season in disappointment.
"We played very well, with the exception of the last 20 minutes in the first half," Knights Head Coach Greg Conley said.
The Knights surrendered all five goals in the match to the Trojans (20-5-1 overall, 17-1 regional) in the final 20 minutes of the first half.
The Knights were missing sweeper Dalton Hammond and stopper Travis Huellemeier, who were out with broken/bruised bones their feet.
"We had some young people in the back," Conley said. "It would've been different if we had had Travis and Dalton with us, but they weren't. We did best with the personnel we had."
Conley said that overall he was pleased with how the season went and how things turned out.
"We’ve had a tremendous group of kids this year, and overall, I'm pleased with the season,” he said.
