TENNIS: Knights preparing for postseason

The Marion County Knights hit the tennis courts last weekend, April 17-20, for the Heartland Conference Tournament.
The boys double team consisting of Dylan Bradshaw and Bandon Miles fell in the opening round 4-6, 6-2, and (11-9). In the boys singles, Bryce Spalding won, defeating Samuel Kessler 6-1, 6-1 in the final round.
In the girls' singles, Allie Evans advanced to the finals where she lost to Brooklyn Harris 6-3, 6-2. Allie Evans defeated Presley Summer to advance. The girls' double team consisting of Olivia Lee and Leah Hazelwood advanced to the semifinals, losing 6-2, 6-2.
The Knights then traveled to the North Laurel Invitational on April 23. A total of four teams participated in the invitational, with the Knights finishing third with a total of 16 points. Colby Hood finished as runner-up in singles while Dylan Bradshaw finished as runner-up in two singles matches. The invitational took the form of a round robin format. Hood won his first match 6-4, 6-0 and his fourth match 6-3, 6-3. Bradshaw won his first and second matches 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1, 6-3.  
Head Coach Landon Williams had high praise for Bryce Spalding and Hank Hardin in the matches.  
"We performed well at Laurel County," Williams said, "But we were overmatched in some areas of the game.”
