The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission will begin its search for a new director during a special-called meeting Tuesday, Aug. 16.

On Monday, Aug. 8, Chris Hamilton told the commission that his final day as Lebanon's tourism director would be this Friday, Aug. 19. Hamilton has accepted an offer to become the executive director of the Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau in Illinois.

According to Dan Lawson, tourism commission chairman, the purpose of Tuesday's meeting will be to determine how the commission wants to move forward with the search for a new director. He said there would be a selection committee formed to help narrow the search and determine what candidates should be interviewed.

"The selection committee will probably be the entire board, and I'd like to have somebody from outside the commission, maybe a couple public, at-large committee members," Lawson said. "We'd like to have Chris involved, too."

The commission’s meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. in conference room 300 at Centre Square.
