Woods and Waters: Kentucky offers an early wood-duck and teal season

-A A +A
By Shelton Young

The last I checked, Kentucky was one of only three states offering an early wood duck and teal season. That might have changed but we’re in Kentucky and still have the season. So, from Sept. 17-21, you can hunt these species. You’ll have a much easier time actually hitting wood ducks than those speedy little teal. For teal, good luck finding them. Either they’re smart and elusive, or I’m just unlucky, but I’ve never seen a teal in the early season. Wood duck are easier - not easy - just easier! So where do ya find wood ducks?
