    Open Arms Community Church, 2205 Danville Highway will have their Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, Oct. 29. Games and a cake walk will be from 4:30-5:15 p.m. The chili supper will be at 5:30 p.m. with Trunk-or-Treat to follow.

    Free fish fry
    Tucker Chapel Baptist Church will host a free fish fry on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at the farmer’s market on M.L. King Avenue. All are invited to attend. Rev. Dale Smith is the pastor.

    Blessing of animals
    The annual blessing of animals will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52 in Loretto on Oct. 4. This is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, known as a protector of animals and the patron saint of our parish. Pastor Fr. Bryan Lamberson will bless all animals brought to the west lawn of the parish at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4. Pets should be on a leash or crated. Livestock should be in an enclosed trailer.
