    Many Americans don’t understand the commitment soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines make when they enter the military. Whether by draft or enlistment, every single one signed a check made out to the United States of America for an amount “up to and including my life.” And because only about 7 percent of Americans have made that commitment it is imperative that we pledge to caring for these heroes.
    There are thousands of veteran’s organizations. This is a story about a unique organization – Honor Flight.

  • Thompson and Thomas will marry May 11

     

    Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson announce the marriage of their daughter, Ann Courtney Thompson to Caleb Thomas.
    Thompson is the granddaughter of Robert and Lucy Craig of Lebanon and Arlene Thompson of Raywick and the late Conrad Thompson.
    Thomas is the son of Jeff and Christy Thomas of Lebanon. His grandparents are Kenny and Mary Lou Marrett of Lebanon and the late Karen Caldwell Money of Calvary.
    The wedding will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Augustine Church in Lebanon. A reception will follow at Centre Square in Lebanon.

    WCHS Class of 1988
    Washington County High School Class of 1988 is planning a reunion meeting on May 12, at 2 p.m. at Mordecai’s in Springfield. Anyone from the class is invited to come help get the reunion organized. The date and place of the reunion will be validated at the meeting.

    Every April, the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks’ Trust for Life along with the entire United States celebrate National Donate Life Month. This is a time to focus national and local attention on every individual’s power to make life possible by registering his or her decision to be an organ and tissue donor and learning more about living donation.

  • Nashville recording artist sings about Cornbread Mafia and Kentucky Girl

    Nashville recording artist Sweepy Walker is not just the grandson of beloved Grand Ole Opry legend Billy Walker (“Charlie’s Shoes” and “A Million and One,” among many others), but he’s also and accomplished entertainer and singer-songwriter on his own accord, recording and playing with many notables such as Willie Nelson, Billy Don Burns, Montgomery Gentry, Gretchen Wilson, Trick Pony, and Brandy Clark.
    Now, Sweepy has written and recorded a number of songs about Central Kentucky and some of the people here.

  • Hosparus Health offers free volunteer training May 15-16

    Hosparus Health of Green River needs volunteers in Adair, Green, Hart, Marion, Metcalfe, Taylor and Washington counties, as well as volunteers to work in its Thrift Shoppe located at 1488 Old Lebanon Road, Suite B, Campbellsville and will offer free trainings in May. Both trainings will be held at the Hosparus Health Campbellsville office, 295 Campbellsville Bypass (behind Coltons).
    • Patient/Family Support: Wednesday, May 16, 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Thrift Shoppe: Tuesday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to noon

    Wednesday, April 25: barbecue chicken on whole wheat bun, baked potato, sour cream, margarine, green beans, and baked apples and raisins.
    Thursday, April 26: beef lasagna, buttered broccoli, garlic bread stick, and Jello fruit salad.
    Friday, April 27: breaded Pollock, Navy beans, coleslaw, ambrosia fruit salad, and cornbread.
