    Robert Eugene "Bobby" Caldwell Sr., 67, Edgewood, died Jan.11, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.

    Born Aug. 12, 1940, in Marion County, Caldwell was a retired service technician for the I.B.M. Corporation.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, William Ivo, Sr., and Martha Ethel Abell Caldwell; four brothers, Austin, Ivo, Jr., Dan and George Caldwell; and four sisters, Cecilia, O'Dele, Mary and Margaret Caldwell.

    Andrew L. "Andy Squire" Miller, 74, Louisville, died Jan. 13, 2008, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

    Born Jan. 3, 1934, at New Hope, Miller was a veteran of the United States Army and a carpenter. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

    He was preceded in death by: his father, Grover Cleveland Miller Sr.; mother, Annie Ethel O'Brian Miller; a sister, Mary Alice Head; and seven brothers, Thomas, Grover C., Brian, Tyler, James, Robert and Herbert H. Miller.

    Jane Auberry Mattingly, 56, Bardstown Road, Springfield, died at 10:50 a.m. Jan. 14, 2008, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

    A Washington County native, Mattingly was a first-grade teacher at Lebanon Elementary School, Lebanon, and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

    She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Melissa Jane Mattingly; her father, John Edward Auberry; and her mother, Mary Oma Murphy Auberry.

    Born Jan. 21, 1965, in Lexington, Davis was a construction worker.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert Lee and Clara Phillips Davis; and one brother, Tommy Lee Pennicuff. Survivors include: two daughters, Shana Davis and Tosha Roller, both of Lebanon; four brothers, Danny Davis of Marion County, Bill Davis of Kings Mountain and Robert Lee Davis Jr. and Ronnie Davis, both of Stanford; two sisters, Betty Davis and Becky Peaveyhouse, both of Lincoln County; and one granddaughter.

  • Robert Edward Wheatley Jr., 55

    Robert Edward "Bucky" Wheatley Jr., 55, died Jan. 12, 2008, at his residence.

    Wheatley was born June 20, 1952, in Marion County.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert Edward "Buster" Wheatley Sr. and Betty Jean Payne Wheatley.

    Survivors include: a daughter, Stephanie Buckman of Lebanon; three brothers, Sam and Breck Wheatley, both of Lebanon, and Cleve Wheatley of Campbellsville; a sister, Judy Isen of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

  • George William Battcher, 77

    George William "Billy" Battcher, 77, Raywick, died at 2:25 a.m. Jan. 17, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.

    Born June 7, 1930, in Marion County, Battcher was a retired Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was awarded a bronze star. He later worked as a metal fabricator and was a member of Acton Baptist Church and Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church.

    Thomas Francis "Frank" Hinton, 70, Locust Street, Springfield, died at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 15, 2008, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.

    A Washington County native, Hinton was a retired dairy clerk at Kroger in Lebanon, a United States Air Force veteran and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Leo and Mary Olivia Green Hinton.

    Born Feb. 2, 1947, in New Hope, Nalley was a nurse practitioner and former member of the order of Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.

    She was preceded in death by: her father, Joseph Reuben Nalley; mother, Mary Mayme Davis Nalley; a brother, Joseph Robert Nalley; and a sister, Mary Eva Probus.

    Survivors include: a sister, Barbara Jean Ford of Mt. Washington; and two brothers, Francis Ronald Nalley of Louisville and John Bernard Nalley of Bardstown.

    Born April 25, 1920, in Adair County, Clark was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and former employee of Fruit of the Loom.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, George Clark; parents, Walter Goebel Watson and Nellie Ermine Bault Watson; and a son, Jerry Clark.
