  • Marion County High School JROTC places second in two team events

     

    Marion County High School JROTC competed the weekend of April 16 at the Southern High School JROTC Raider Competition. Marion County placed second in two team events. The cadets were: Haley Garrett, Joseph Aleshemmari, Sydney Reid, Joseph Taylor, Jabari Scott, Nicole Baker, Hunter Winsor, Rebekah Roberts, and Zach Reed.

  • Mock crash makes an impact

    Marion County High School students were the spectators of a mock crash scene Thursday, April 28, days before they participated in prom festivities. The Marion County Heartland Safe Community Coalition, local law enforcement and emergency services created a mock crash at the high school. It was treated like a real collision involving drugs and alcohol. Mock crash participants were Cody Rakes, DeLanna Johnson, Jessica Sandusky and Brian Bailey.

  • Tech center project near complete

    The Marion County Area Technology Center renovation/addition project is expected to be complete by May 15, and the Marion County Board of Education got a tour of the facility during its regular monthly meeting last week.

    The 11th annual Special Kids/Special Talents Field Day was held Friday at Lebanon Elementary School. The event recognizes students for their outstanding effort and attitude.

    The Marion County Board of Education has selected three candidates to interview for the superintendent's position.

    They are Chuck Hamilton, Mercer County superintendent, Steven Cleo Meadows, Bath County assistant superintendent and William Phil Rison, Montgomery County assistant superintendent.

  • Scholarship is available for graduating seniors

    The Debbie Gardner Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors and GED recipients in Marion County.
    This scholarship can be used to assist with tuition while attending a four-year college, a two-year college, or a technical school.
    Anyone applying for this scholarship must first meet the federal low-income guidelines. Preference will be given to graduating seniors or GED recipients going into the fields of social services, business, agriculture, or education. Student’s grade point average will also be taken into consideration.
