  • Students participate in Patriots Challenge

    Recently, Marion and Washington County HOSA students, Health Occupations Students of America, competed in the Patriots Challenge event held at Saint Catherine College. Patriots Challenge is a preparatory event for state competition to be held in March. Students who compete have chances at winning $500, $250 and $100 scholarships, which may be doubled at the state level.

  • Local students named to dean’s, president’s lists

    St. Catharine College recently announced the list of students who have achieved extraordinary academic success for the Fall 2010 semester. The dean’s list includes all students who had a grade point average of 3.6 - 3.999. The president’s list includes students who had a perfect 4.0 during the fall semester.

    It's a popular New Year's resolution people tend to make, and St. Catharine College hopes local people take advantage of its education center at Centre Square in Lebanon to make that resolution turn into a reality.

  • West Marion Elementary students are honored

     

  • WMES learns about fire safety

     

    Fire Safety week was held Oct. 4-8 at West Marion Elementary School. Firefighters from the Loretto Fire Department spoke with children about fire safety and prevention. Students had the opportunity to watch a demonstration by Loretto firefighters using their ladder truck. Kindergarten and first graders also had the opportunity to tour the Fire Safety Trailer from Mercer Central Fire Department. Students discussed what to do if their home were on fire and participated in a simulation of a house fire, from which they evacuated.
