  • What are a magistrate’s responsibilities?

    The fiscal court has the authority to control and supervise most aspects of the financial affairs of the county, including the county budget, tax levies, payments from the county treasury and bond issuances. The fiscal court may appropriate county funds for lawful purposes, buy and sell county property, supervise the fiscal affairs of the county and county officers, and exercise all other corporate powers of the county. Further, the fiscal court may investigate all activities of county government and establish appointive offices and define their duties.

  • Fire heavily damages Marion Inn in Lebanon

    Fire engulfed a trailer on West Main Street in Lebanon at approximately 5 p.m., Thursday, April 19, spreading quickly to the Marion Inn.
    “We don’t know the cause yet, it’s still too early,” Lebanon Fire Chief Ricky Mattingly said Friday morning.
    According to Mattingly, there were 11 units in the Marion Inn that were destroyed, and the trailer was completely destroyed.
    The fire department received the call at 5:14 p.m. and cleared the scene at around 8:30 p.m.
