    A: If you are working on Election Day, you may be entitled to a maximum of four consecutive hours off from work in order to vote or cast an absentee ballot if you make a request for time off with your employer.

  • What are a magistrate’s responsibilities?

    The fiscal court has the authority to control and supervise most aspects of the financial affairs of the county, including the county budget, tax levies, payments from the county treasury and bond issuances. The fiscal court may appropriate county funds for lawful purposes, buy and sell county property, supervise the fiscal affairs of the county and county officers, and exercise all other corporate powers of the county. Further, the fiscal court may investigate all activities of county government and establish appointive offices and define their duties.

    The county clerk serves a term of four years. The duties of the county clerk fall into the general categories of clerical duties of the fiscal court: issuing and registering, recording and keeping numerous legal records, registering and purging voter rolls, conducting election duties and conducting tax duties.

  • Lady Knights to face Nelson and Casey counties

    Even though Marion County’s 10-game win streak ended on Friday in a 2-1 loss to North Hardin, the Lady Knights are proving they can make some noise within the Fifth Region. Marion County is currently 10-3, giving them the second best win percentage in the region behind Green County (11-3). Hart County (9-3) is third while Central Hardin (14-6) is fourth.

    The Marion County Knights felt good snapping a five-game skid on Thursday in Columbia. They felt really good after two wins in Shepherdsville to get them on a three-game winning streak.

    “They are starting to realize their true potential and if we can maintain that and build upon that, we can be very successful,” Marion County Head Coach Patrick Campbell said.
