  • Habitat for Humanity meeting is Jan. 25

    My New Kentucky Home is looking for a Marion County partner family for this year’s home build. If you are interested and think you might qualify, look for a pre-qualification form in local offices, banks and churches in Marion County. Those who would prefer to attend a meeting for information or to turn in their pre-qualification form should come to the Marion County Public Library at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25.

    On Jan. 10 Marion County hosted a double-header against Washington County. Both Marion County teams added a win to their records.  

    Lady Knights beat Lady Commanders 

    The Lady Knights (7-7) picked up at 60-24 win over the Lady Commanders (1-9).

  • George is crowned Miss Kentucky USA

    Katie George, a student at the University of Louisville, was crowned Miss Kentucky USA 2015 in Louisville on Saturday night. George is a member of the U of L volleyball team and this was the first pageant in which she had ever participated. There were 17 contestants.
    Katie George is the daughter of Tim and Annie George and granddaughter of Dr. Salem and Eva George.
     

  • County moves a little closer to testing E911

    Marion County continues to get a little closer to implementing Enhanced 911.
    "We're ready to go hot with this thing, been ready for six months," said Keith Brock, the county's solid waste and environmental coordinator, during the Jan. 8 meeting of the Marion County Fiscal Court.
    "We've been ready for 12 years," Magistrate Jackie Wicker replied.

  • Kentucky Bluegrass Music Kickoff celebrates 10th year in 2015

    The 10th annual Kentucky Bluegrass Music Kickoff will take place Jan. 23-24 at Marion County High School.
    Brad Lanham, president of the Kentucky Fellowship of Musicians, said this year's event really has two headlining acts in Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out and in the Dale Ann Bradley Band.
    "We wanted to have a bigger show to celebrate the 10th year," Lanham said.
    KBMK started in 2005, when it was known as the Heart of Kentucky Winterfest and was held at the Centre Square Convention Center.
