  • Back for another week

    Sorry about last week. Some of you … OK, the half-dozen or so who read my columns may be wondering what happened to my article!
    Well, it’s simple, I broke my arm. To be specific, I broke the humerus, the big upper bone, in my left arm late Saturday evening (April 25).
    Needless to say, it hurt too much, and the pain pills sort of goofed me out, so I didn’t bother with a column.

  • Turkey, May 6

    Chris Brady of Lebanon took this turkey on Sunday evening May 3 in Marion County during the Spring turkey season. It weighed 22 pounds and sported a 10-inch beard with 7/8-inch spurs and scored 59 1/2 on a scale.

  • Young named MVP for Midway...

    Marion County High School graduate ShaKyra Young was named the 2014 most valuable player for the Midway College volleyball on April 26. This is second consecutive season that Young, a sophomore, has been named the team’s MVP.
    “She kept the team in many matches
    this season and was a leader on the floor by her example,” Midway Coach Buddy Gallemore said
    Young is the daughter of Tony and Leslie Young of Lebanon.
    Midway College competes in NAIA Division II.

  • Lions Club host golf tournament...

    The Lebanon Lions Club is hosting its business/industrial appreciation Spring Invitational Golf Kick-off Tourney at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Lebanon Country Club.
    The Lions Club still needs a few teams for the tournament, and anyone interested in participating should contact S. Thomas Whitehouse at 270-692-6973.
    This is a four-man best ball scramble with at shotgun start. Team scores will be adjusted by handicap.

  • Sign up for women’s volleyball...

    Graham Memorial Park will be hosting women’s volleyball league on Thursday evenings this summer. Team signups are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. May 14 under the pavilion by the Lebanon Aquatic Center.
    Matches will begin on May 21.
