  • All Stars win Munfordville...

    The Marion County Minor League All-Stars recently won the Munfordville Summer Blow Out.
    In their first game, Marion County defeated the Monroe County All Stars, 11-1, in five innings. Will Hunt led Marion County with three hits. Dallas Cox and Keagan Milby added two hits each.
    In their second game, Marion County defeated the Munfordville Red Sox, 11-7.
    In the first inning, Marion County scored three runs, but Munfordville answered with two runs in the first inning and one run in the second to tie the score.

    The Bethlehem High School Eagles golf team started the year off with the second annual Lee’s Famous Recipe Kickin’ Chicken Tournament on Monday, July 29. Participating in the tournament were teams from Bardstown High School, Bethlehem High School, Nelson County High School and Thomas Nelson High School. For the second year in a row, Bethlehem has taken home the traveling trophy, winning the competition by 29 strokes. Pictured are Corey Robinson, Henry Smith (of Lebanon), J.T. Smith, Daniel Steele and Will Schlosser.


  • Skaggs wins at Ohio Valley

    Bud Skaggs won the Quick 16 and was runner-up in Super Pro at Ohio Valley Raceway in Louisville on July 27, 2013.

  • KORT offers concussion testing

    Beginning Aug. 1, KORT will offer concussion baseline testing prior to injury for just $5. When a student athlete is injured his or her physician can use this initial base line cognitive test as a comparison to help aid in determining the athlete’s readiness to return to play. The test takes about 20 minutes and measures multiple cognitive functions including: attention span, working memory, reaction time and non-verbal problem solving.

    Those are the words the Marion County 11-12-year-old state softball champions heard when they arrived in Indianapolis, Ind., last week. In fact, every team that participated in the Little League Central Regional was reminded they were the best in their state by the Little League staff.

  • Life of a caddy

    Bones Mackay, Stevie Williams and Fluff Cowan.

    Golf enthusiasts will recognize those names as the caddies for Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott (and formerly of Tiger Woods), and Jim Furyk (and formerly of Tiger Woods), respectively. You saw the bond between a caddy and his player when Mickelson and Mackay broke down in tears and hugged each other closely when Phil captured the Open Championship.

  • Hoops & a Prayer

    On July 27, the New Life Community Church hosted the Hoops of Praise tournament at Graham Memorial Park. The basketball tournament was used to bring people of the community to the park for fun and worship. Face painting was available for kids and free clothes and food were given away.
