  • Improbable

Friday night in Charlotte, North Carolina. No one thought history would happen inside the Spectrum Center. No one thought by the end of the night, the most improbable would happen. The night began with a basketball game between Virginia and the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. It ended with the most shocking upset in NCAA Tournament history.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Knights prepare...

Erin Benton is going back to her high school alma mater.
Over the weekend, Marion County will travel to Meade County High School for the Meade County Mighty March Matchup. The Lady Knights will play the Assumption Rockets at 8 p.m., Friday. The Lady Knights get the Presentation Toppers at noon, Saturday, and the Holy Cross (Louisville) Cougars at 2 p.m., Saturday.
“[Holy Cross] was a pretty good challenge for us last season,” Marion County coach Erin Benton said.

  • TENNIS: Knights still waiting to...

Marion County has been waiting ever so patiently to get on the court for its first match. After the season opener against LaRue County was cancelled due to snowfall, the Knights had another match cancelled on Friday against the Campbellsville Eagles, who said scheduling conflicts their players had with other events prevented them from competing.

  • TRACK AND FIELD: Track team...

The Marion County track team has been practicing for the past few months as they work toward the 2018 season, which was scheduled to kick off yesterday at the Shelby County All-Comers meet.
“It will be a great, competitive meet and we'll be able to find out where we stand early in the season,” Coach Daniel Johnson said.
Johnson is leading the team along with Dallas Robinson, with the duo in their second season coaching the track team together.

  • Vaught’s Views: Kentucky signee...

    By Larry Vaught

Kentucky signee Keldon Johnson will be playing in the McDonald’s All-American Game March 28 in Atlanta. But that will just be the start of his all-star experience.
The 6-6 guard has also been invited to play in the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit. Players who get invited to all three games are the best of the best and Johnson’s father, Mike, says the family feels blessed by the honors.

  • BASEBALL: Knights look for...

There’s a first time for everything. For Marion County High School baseball, there was a first time for a lot of things last season.
First 20-win season since 2002. First district title since 1988. First regional title ever. An appearance in the state tournament semifinals.
Last season was an historic season indeed for Marion County and it’ll be a tough act to follow, especially with eight seniors from last year’s squad gone due to graduation. However, Head Coach Patrick Campbell has the confidence his team can put together a solid season in 2018.
