The Marion County boys and girls track teams both finished fifth at the Thomas Nelson All-Comers Meet on April 10. The boys tallied a total of 50 points while the girls put up 37. Bardstown won both the boys and girls sides in the meet, with 140 points in the girls division and 186 in the boys.
“It was first meet after spring break. Kids were glad to get out and compete again. It was several kids’ first meet of the season,” Marion County Coach Daniel Johnson said.

  • Vaught’s Views: Perception has...

    By Larry Vaught

Perception is a major component of college gymnastics. Some might argue it’s that way with every college sport where top programs always seem to get more breaks.
Kentucky gymnastics has been fighting the perception that it is not one of the top programs in the country — or the Southeastern Conference.  However, UK is doing all it can to change that.
Kentucky will be competing in the nationals in St. Louis Friday for the first time in school history after its second-place finish in the Minnesota Region.

  • BASEBALL: Knights face defending...

The Marion County Knights are looking to get back on track after coming up winless during their Spring Break trip to Historic Dodgertown at Vero Beach, Florida, with their play on the Florida coast putting them at 2-4. Marion County got some valuable experience against tough competition and will look to use that to make adjustments and improve as a team.
Patrick Campbell’s squad has since returned home to Kentucky and begun regular season district play, which will put Marion County up against their district rivals three times each over the next few weeks.

Donte DiVincenzo. Arike Ogunbowale. How’s that for some unique names?
Unique last names aren’t the only things those two have become known for. Both DiVincenzo and Ogunbowale stole the show on college basketball’s biggest stages- the national championship games, helping to lead their squads to a national title. Ogunbowale was the hero in the women’s national title games while DiVincenzo stole the spotlight in the men’s title game.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Knights are...

Marion County has bounced back well from a sluggish 0-2 start, shutting out Carroll County 3-0 on Talley Field on April 4. The win extended the Lady Knights’ winning-streak to three and lifted their record to 3-2. The win streak also includes a 6-0 shutout at Thomas Nelson and an 11-1 victory against Presentation in Brandenburg.

  • TENNIS: Knights prepare for...

Marion County Head Coach Noah Swencki said the Knights’ lack of matches have hurt his team’s preparation for the Heartland Conference meet.
“[We’re] not very prepared because we haven’t had any matches,” he said. The Knights have had only three matches so far this season, with the team seeing several matches called off due to the rain and poor weather.

  • TRACK AND FIELD: Knights get 7...

The Marion County Knights received seven first or second place finishes at the Thomas Nelson All-Comers meet on March 27.

  • Vaught’s Views:Could UK signee...

    By Larry Vaught

How good is Kentucky signee Tyler Herro?
The 6-5 guard from Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wis., has a fan in Rivals.com recruiting writer Krysten Peek.
“He is the best shooter in the (2018 recruiting) class from beyond the arc (3-point line),” said Peek. “He could be the best pure scorer in the class.
“I saw him in one workout where he did not miss a single shot. He can shoot a 3 like a lay-up. He is just a pure shooter and there are not many of them out there.”

  • Knights begin district play...
